Dr. Kedric Taylor - Director of Bands & Professor of Music
Dr. Kedric Taylor is the Director of Bands Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He started his musical career arranging music at Mattie T. Blount High School in Mobile, Alabama, where he served as band captain and assistant to the director. Relocating to Baton Rouge to attend Southern University, Mr. Taylor marched in the World-renowned Human Jukebox Marching Band for four years. During his tenure, he earned the position of section leader. He also served as assistant director of the Mobile All-Star Band, as well as the Feliciana Community All-Star Band.
William J. Young - Associate Director of Bands
Meet Mr. William J. Young, the dynamic Associate Director of Bands for the Southern University Department of Bands. A Southern University alumnus and former "Human Jukebox" member, Mr. Young's extensive background includes roles at Langston University, Duncanville ISD, and Cedar Hill ISD. Known for achieving Superior Ratings in prestigious competitions and fostering exceptional student talent, he brings a wealth of experience and passion for music education to our esteemed program. Myrikle J. Rosette - Program Manager & Academic Liaison
Meet Myrikle J. Rosette, the dynamic Program Manager & Academic Liaison at the Southern University Department of Bands. An alumna and former clarinetist with deep roots in the institution, Myrikle has evolved from a student musician to a pivotal leader in the department. Her unique blend of musical talent, academic insight, and administrative acumen has been instrumental in shaping innovative programs and guiding the next generation of musicians. Kenneth Collins - Assistant Director of Bands
The son of Nathaniel and Sandra Collins, Kenneth Collins was introduced to music at an early age and was actively taking lessons by age six. After several years of participating in his church's youth choir, Mr. Collins joined the Martin Behrman Band during his 8th-grade year with hopes of earning a scholarship to Southern University. Collins attributes his fundamental skills to his time spent in the Martin Behrman Band and would go on to further hone his musical skills as a band captain, section leader, and student arranger for the Edna Karr High School Band.
Darrin Bedell - The Voice of The Human Jukebox
For nearly thirty years, Mr. Darrin Bedell has been the commanding voice of the world-famous Southern University Human Jukebox. His signature phrase — “Mic check… are you ready?” — has become synonymous with the excitement and anticipation of every performance.
Jaron Williams - Arranger
Mr. Jaron “Bear” Williams began his musical journey at nine years old as one of the first students in The Roots of Music in New Orleans, Louisiana. Even in his early years, he emerged as a natural leader, serving as both Trumpet Section Leader and Band Captain. He continued that leadership trajectory at O. Perry Walker High School, where he again held section and captain roles while earning opportunities to perform internationally in France and Japan, as well as across the United States. His reputation for excellence and preparation began resonating well beyond his immediate surroundings.

Traci Greene is a proud alumnus of Southern University and A&M College and a former four-year Southern University Dancing Doll (‘92-‘95). Traci served as Southern Univ. Dancing Doll captain from 1993-1995 under the leadership of Dr. Isaac Greggs and Doll Coordinator Rose Roche’.
