Garrett Edgerson - Media Director

For more than a decade, Garrett Edgerson has helped redefine how the Southern University Human Jukebox is experienced worldwide. Through powerful storytelling, innovative visual content, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he has transformed the band’s media presence into one of the most recognized and respected brands in HBCU marching band culture.

A New Orleans native and graduate of Southern University with a degree in Computer Science, Edgerson founded DaEdge1 Productions in 2010 with a vision of telling stories that inspire, preserve history, and connect communities. He joined the Human Jukebox as Media Director in 2014, beginning a journey that would elevate the band’s digital footprint to unprecedented heights.

Under Edgerson’s leadership, Jukebox Media has become synonymous with excellence. His team has produced content viewed by millions across social media, earning recognition from national outlets including ESPN, NBC, CBS, Ebony Magazine, MTV, and other major platforms. Through cinematic videos, documentary-style storytelling, photography, and behind-the-scenes access, he has introduced new audiences to the tradition, excellence, and culture of the Human Jukebox.

His impact extends far beyond the content itself. Edgerson has built one of Southern University’s premier student media organizations, mentoring aspiring photographers, videographers, editors, producers, and creative professionals from a wide range of academic disciplines. Many of his former students have gone on to successful careers in media, carrying with them the standards of professionalism, teamwork, and excellence they developed under his leadership.

His work has also earned national recognition. As Executive Producer of The Hidden Sport, Edgerson played a key role in the production that received a Student Sports Emmy Award, further solidifying his reputation as a creative leader committed to telling meaningful stories. Beyond television, his work has reached museums, national audiences, and countless alumni whose connection to Southern University has been strengthened through the moments he has preserved.

Whether directing a multi-camera halftime production, capturing championship moments, documenting student-athlete achievements, or mentoring the next generation of storytellers, Edgerson approaches every project with the same philosophy that has guided his career: “Stay Humble, Hustle Hard.”

Today, Garrett Edgerson continues to push the boundaries of collegiate sports and band media while preserving one of Southern University’s most celebrated traditions. His camera captures more than performances—it captures history. Through his leadership, creativity, and dedication to excellence, he has ensured the Human Jukebox legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
